BOTANICAL

Flowers are among the most beautiful expressions of God's creative power. There is so much artistry packed into a single bloom that seems to have been made for no other reason than to beautify the earth. They are my favourite subjects. Looking through the lens at these exquisite masterpieces is always humbling as I try to capture a view of something that Someone has worked to perfection.

"Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." Matthew 6:28-29

Natural Hues

My second solo exhibition was held at Graceville Gallery in September 2008. This collection presents the varied colours found in flowers in a sweep that follows the hues of the visible spectrum.

Interactions

Plant studies showing them in their settings as well as the occasional visitor from the insect world.

Bougainvillea Ballet

This is the result of an experimental shoot of the same flower head, keeping camera stationary while rotating and moving the subject. The bracts showed such a splendid range of shades that I assembled a quartet of images depicting the change from one tint to the next.

Leaves

Where would all that colour be without the verdant hues to set them off? Foliage is beautiful too.
